Lady Lockhart

Another quick line and color piece, mostly ironing out a general character concept. Meet Lady Lockhart, owner of the Lockhart Arms and Metalworks company and mistress of the Lockhart Estate. She lives in a post apocalyptic world where a large meteor struck the earth, throwing large radioactive chunks of rock across the planet, and covering the world in a layer of strange mineral dust that is harmful to living creatures. It's been roughly 100 years since the apocalypse so the world has regained some level of civilization, society is no longer made up of small survivalist groups fighting for their own survival, but has evolved to a point where small isolated cities and basic electric power has begun to take hold once again.

Lady Lockhart is one of the first people to restart firearm manufacturing since the apocalypse, and through her shrewd entrepreneurial tactics she has become incredibly wealthy by post apocalypse standards. Lockhart firearms are well respected for their durability and reliability and although they can be expensive, none doubt their quality. Lady Lockhart herself carries a custom hand crafted version of their latest model the "Sunnyday Special" a lever action rifle with high muzzle velocity and accessory mounts, named "Ravens' Provider". Although she owns a large walled estate on the top of a hill overlooking the city of Iron Valley, she is not content to waste away in sloth and decadence, but continues to have a hand in the day to day life of the city. She is always looking for new investment opportunities such as mines and salvage, and even heads out into the wastes on occasion for personal hunting parties, or prospecting expeditions.

The idea of "fashion" has gradually crept back into the collective consciousness of society now that long term cities and settlements can finally survive and people have enough free time to take interest in hobbies and fashion. Gas masks are required when leaving the walls of a city to protect one from the "star dust" left by the meteor, so gas masks come in all shapes and sizes and serve as a form of personal expression in a world where people often must hide their face. In addition to the ubiquity of gask masks, interest in corsetry as a fashion has been rekindled in recent years, as it tends to fit well with the aesthetic of durable and somewhat protective clothing required by day to day life in the post apocalypse. Many men and women can be seen sporting corsets of various styles and purpose, from more mundane fashion ones, to some that serve as a back brace for physical labor, to even more extreme cases of tight lacing and body modification. Lady Lockhart is quickly setting the fashion standard for the wealthy with her extreme tight laced waist and preference for the edwardian corset (sometimes known as S-bend), and other members of the upper class are beginning to follow suit as more and more extreme tight lacing becomes the fashionable choice for those who are less bogged down by the rigors of lower class working life.
